It's spring cleanup time at StarkFresh's Food Justice Campus! That means not only is it time to do a physical organization and general building a grounds cleanup, but we’ll take advantage of the opportunity to get started on those “to-do” lists we’ve been adding tasks to all Winter long. We’re expanding the Campus and we have things that can be done for all skill levels, all of which are helping us get ready to start construction to expand the amount of people we are helping with our programming. These exciting changes start with your help!
Some of the more skilled tasks include:
Changing lamps and installing LED light fixtures in our office area
Replacing ceiling tiles throughout Campus
Assembling an outdoor walk-in freezer
Building out a doorway in a shipping container using wood
Running electrical pipe/wires for additional outdoor power in our courtyard
Move ceiling flexible ductwork and vents around in office area
Install lighting in storage containers
Spring tune ups on a couple of push mowers and weed whackers
Patch block wall in rear of building
Patch Rust areas on vehicle wheel well

Patching gaps/holes in building soffits
Remove basketball hoops from poles
Remove a divider wall in Community Room
Put castor wheels on oven and other appliances/tables

The tasks that don’t involve any heavy skills, but equally as important are:

Painting interior walls
Shampooing carpets and chairs
Scanning documents into computer
Deep clean kitchen equipment/appliances
Spot painting/touch-up of outside door jams, windows, etc

We can never have enough 6-8’ step ladders for volunteers to use, as we only have a few. For individuals who can help with some construction/electrical tasks, if they bring their own hand tools/battery drills that would be helpful too.
